The guy kicking the kid has down syndrome. The woman is either his mother or caregiver. The caregiver and the black father are both out of line here. The child and the guy kicking the kid are both innocent.

And yet, I'd have done the same if I were the kids dad. I don't think the father reacted in any way he shouldn't have. It's instinct to protect your child and whether or not the guy has down syndrome, he kicked the child. Justice served.

I'd have done the same thing. If the guy has down syndrome then the caretaker or mother should be watching him more closely. It is never ok to kick a kid whether you are right in the head or not. I would have knocked the guy out. I wouldn't have given it a second thought. Protecting my kid. Don't care if you aren't mentally stable. If you can't be trusted in public, don't be in public. What if the guy had pounced on the kid and started throwing punches? Would people have said, "Aww, he has down syndrome. You can't blame him." Does that make the kid less of a victim?
