Really the only trick here is where he jumps over the guy's leg - that's what got him out of the hold. From there he just has to pull with his right arm and push the guy's shoulder to the ground with his left; the foot between the legs help launch him off the ground and off balance. reply

shows bad technique and would surely cause an injury. It's all brute force and strength, which isn't what Judo or Jiu-Jitsu teaches. The better solution would have been to go to the ground and start a counter/attack from there. This would be useless on the street. reply

this is great technique that exploits toris lack of kuzushi! it may not be right out of the Gokyo, but it's good Judo. "Take it to the ground"?.... are you kidding?.. how does a throw, and this video in particular, not speak to "taking it to the ground"? Which guy would you rather be? "Useless on the street"?. ..... reply
