1. solid objects can't filtrate air... there's no place for the air to enter its lungs. with that said, i think they're to make it look cool.
2. "win" isn't an object it's something you do... you cant be made of it.
3. yes, you can't shoot "win" with an RPG, because it's not an object, therefor is intangible.

I agree with points 2 and 3. However, point 1 is a fail and a half. Gills only work because they are moist (allowing oxygen to diffuse across the gill membrane into the bloodstream) and because they are exposed to the water (open and floating around, sorta, and exposed to the oxygen in the water). They don't really filter anything. All that is required is for oxygen to enter the bloodstream, so if these oxygen spikes somehow inject and dissolve oxygen into the bloodstream, this will work.
